Shelter Harbor Golf Club is a 27 hole golf facility located in Charlestown, Rhode Island. Shelter Harbor Golf Club is a private club that has both an 18 golf course (The Championship Course) and a 9 hole Par-3 Course, (The Par-3 Course).
The Championship Course is a par 71, 7,006-yard layout signature design of golf architects Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry. The course opened for play in 2004.
With wide generous fairways and challenging approach shots, the course provides a magnificent golfing experience for golfers of all levels. The course has many topographical changes from the low point of 102 feet to the high point of 187 feet, and rock walls are woven through the whole of the course. Wetlands, mature trees, and large glacial boulders offer boundaries, definition, texture and charm to the entire property. One of the most distinctive features of the course are the rustic bunkers shrouded with native fescues reminiscent of those at Pine Valley.fescues reminiscent of those at Pine Valley.
The Par 3 Course is a par 27, 1206 yard layout is located on the southern edge of the property. Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry designed the course. It opened in 2005.
The par 3 course is punctuated with many elevation changes, rock walls and trees creating a challenging fun-filled experience for golfers of all abilities.
Shelter Harbor Golf Club has a 22-acre practice facility that features six sets of tees with each offering varying views and distances to the five target greens. The practice range also has two short game areas along with a practice putting green and a private tee for professional instruction.
